Good morning church… today I am finishing our little collection of talks on JOY…

But to be real… I don’t wanna preach this week. I don’t wanna talk. I really want to be clear, honest and open… but in my feelings with what has happened this week…

One of the first messages I did at the river church

Ive got the JOY JOY JOY JOY JOY down in my heart was one of the first things I preached out on big stage here at the river church.

Joy is something I am passionate about.

Its been spoken over me from a very young age that I will bring a carrier of Joy and help raise the Joy level of wherever I go…. Its also something I struggle with… I think often the things we are passionate about can be linked to the things we struggle with!

Each Tuesday and Wednesday night – before we start our two mid week youth programs the leaders gather in a back room of the underground and I pray … may we raise the joy level tonight… helping to raise the joy level is intentional… its our aim.

Why are we talking about JOY now? This is weird. With everything that is happening around the word right now…

Its not been a season where Joy seems to be the topic, if anything this last week has been filled with discussions, disappointment and devision…

So JOY? Why? Why now?

Most times in the word when it talks about Joy its paired with two different words… its really foundational. It either will talk about the GOOD NEWS or about strength/power…

I want to bring to you a fresh perspective on Joy..Is been great to hear what N M J and said and I want to go on with that conversation and message.

HEBREWS 12: 2-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.  Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people;[c] then you won’t become weary and give up.

JOHN 15 9-17
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.  When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.  I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!  This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.  You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.

Jesus was and still is the MOST appraochable person ever…. The marginalized people follow him, the pushed away, the forgotten, the ones who knew they were hurting…. EVEN PETER SWAM TO HIM!

WHY… what do these passages teach us…

Everyone has the RIGHT – the FREE GIFT to the foot of the cross. That is at the HEART of the Kingdom of heaven. I want this to be very clear – there is no status that can earn His grace… its not based on performance (that is a goodthing) its not based on how good you are… the fact that you are human… made in the very image of God the scriptures are very clear that you have the FREE GIFT the right to the foot of the cross…

Its a even playing field…
