Surrender and Trust by Preston and Phelia Smith
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:5-6 The Message
Have you ever built a shelf? Are you one of those people who puts things together based on just the picture and when you finish… there are a few extra nuts and bolts? When you check the directions to make sure there should be some extra hardware and the first line says, “There should be no left over hardware!” Your next thought is, “Well it shouldn’t fall apart. I am sure it is safe enough.” The problem is, when you put your canned goods on it, the shelf collapsed because it was missing the extra parts.
God doesn’t only have a plan for us, He has a perfect plan. This doesn’t mean that when we trust His plan and surrender our own plan that things won’t be hard. What it means is that there are times when trusting God despite our current circumstances is hard. We must know that God is always working for the betterment of the plan He has for us.
Father, as I surrender my plan and follow Yours, I ask that You lead me in grace, guidance, strength, faith, courage and passion to trust in You. Father, I want to listen to understand and not to respond. I want to follow You and to surrender my will to Your will.
