Worship May Increase by Drew Quisenberry

Scripture:

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 MSG

Observation:

“Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Such a powerful piece. If we are constantly in community with God and worshipping Him, then our best will be shown to those around us in order to glorify Him.  Not only that, but it will be counter cultural and change things on such a deep level.

Application:

For worship to increase we need to simply do that. Increase how often we are worshipping. We so often think that worship has to be done on a Sunday when we’re gathered at church with other believers and there has to be someone playing music that we can sing along to but that’s not the case. Worship can happen whenever and wherever you are. We hear that and think “that’s all fine and dandy but that isn’t practical for me because of _________” when in reality it is. We have the ability to be worshipping God in all we do but we get so distracted and caught up with our busy schedules that we put it to the back of our mind and forget. If we can simply change how we view the importance of our time and instead make time to worship God then we will be changed from the inside out.

Prayer:

God thank You for allowing us to be in constant communion with You. Thank You that we are able to call upon Your name and You’re there in a moment. God we ask that we would constantly be seeking after You in every little are. That we would want to worship You more and more in order to change the world around us and grow closer with You everyday! May we become more deeply rooted in You and may our worship be a sweet sound unto You. Amen.
