Study is the dedicated pursuit of understanding

“Jesus did not come to make bad people good.  Rather, He came to make dead people live.” -Ravi Zacharias

Proverbs 9:10 (NIV) – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 4:7b (NIV)– Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Proverbs 18:2 (NIV) – Fools find no pleasure in understanding, but delight in airing their own opinions.

Ingredients of Understanding = Information + Experience + Faith

If the posture of your heart is not teachable, it will be hard to come to understanding

Most of the answers we look for in life are not hard to find, but commonly are hard to embrace

While still vital, the means of study is not as important as the posture of heart to receive the answers that you find.

The depth of understanding in a person’s life is not dependent on how much information they have seen come across their life, but how much application and faith they applied to the information that they had.

If we don’t first claim ourselves a student, then we will never claim Jesus our teacher.

You are the student of your life.

Romans 1:18-20 (NIV) – The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
